Annual Pismo Beach Easter Extravaganza

What: The City of Pismo Beach Recreation Division presents the annual Easter Eggstravaganza from 10am-1pm. Festivities will be held at Dinosaur Caves Park in Shell Beach, and the hunt is free! The celebration includes games, bounce houses, face painting, a balloon artist and much more! Participants are asked to bring their own basket or bag to collect their eggs and goodies! The Easter Bunny might even be available for photos, so be sure to bring your cameras!

Arroyo Grande Strawberry Festival

What: As one of California’s largest festivals and premiere festival on the Central Coast this family-style event brings together thousands of visitors and residents to enjoy activities and entertainment, the Strawberry Stampede, hundreds of art, craft and display booths, ethnic foods, and of course, scrumptious strawberry treats of all kinds in shortcakes, funnel cakes, milkshakes, ice cream and by the box!

The wonderful May weather and ambiance of the historic downtown village also add to the festivals merriment.

Roll out the Barrels Weekend

What: Four days filled with the best wines of San Luis Obispo. The weekend kicks off with Barrels in the Plaza, in conjunction with the local farmer’s market. This evening event features a unique culinary experience, “grown here, made here” celebrating all that is grown and made in SLO. Friday night, enjoy dinner with the winemakers of various member wineries throughout South San Luis Obispo County.

2012 St. Anthony’s Celebration

Visiting Pismo Beach for the St. Anthony’s Celebration?

What: The St. Anthony’s Celebration Committee sponsors this annual event to celebrate the cultural contribution of the area’s Portuguese descendants. The parade begins on Sunday at 9:30am with sopas being served at the St. Anthony’s grounds.

Festivities will begin at noon Saturday with a barbecue luncheon for all donors, followed by an auction of crafts, fruits, vegetables, garden supplies, appliances, tools, gift certificates and Portuguese sweetbread. Dancing to the music of Loucura will begin at 8 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Building right after the presentation of the outgoing and incoming queens.

The traditional grand march with the entourage of queens and attendants plus the new slate of officers at 8 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Building will be followed by dancing.

California Western Monarch Day

What: The Estero Bay Surf Club proudly invites you to the infamous Big, Bad and Ugly Surf and Turf Invitational. “The Ugly” is one of the most challenging surfing events in the Coalition of Surfing Clubs’ schedule. The event will commence at Morro Rock on February 18th and conclude on February 19^th at the Pine Seas Golf Course in Los Osos. The Estero Bay Surf Club will host an awards dinner Saturday evening.

What: The Great Western Bicycle Rally (GWBR) is a 47-year old event located in Paso Robles, California, and takes place on every Memorial Day Weekend. Paso Robles countryside is one of the premier areas in California to ride bicycles because of the variety of roads and scenery available for Rally riders to enjoy. Every year can be a different experience for riders because there are such a variety of routes.

2012 Rubber Ducky Derby

Sigma Nu’s 5th Annual Rubber Ducky Derby

What: These lucky ducks are raising money to help cure cancer while racing towards glory and prizes…and Downtown San Luis Obispo truly has something for everyone!

We will float thousands of rubber ducks down San Luis Creek all to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The starting line will be under the bridge behind Native Lounge (Formerly Mission Grill), and then the race will end under the bridge that crosses next to Novo. The race duration will range from 10-20 minutes in length. The ducks will float down the creek and over waterfalls, and the first duck to cross the finish line will win the Grand Prize 42″ Plasma HDTV. There will be prizes for 1st through 10th place ducks! You do not need to be present to win and we will contact you if you have won any of the prizes.

Throughout the event, there will be a BBQ with chips from PopChips and cookies from Cal Poly Women’s Field Hockey, various children’s’ activities, as well as a silent auction with items from Kevin Main Jewelry, Kwirkworld, Pillow Pets, Paper Sky and Gold Concept. The winners of the silent auction will be notified as the event concludes.

What: The SLO Health and Fitness Expo 5K will take you along the Highway 101 Bike Path up to Madonna Mountain & back up to the Alex Madonna Expo Center. This run affords you beautiful views of the hills and pastures of San Luis Obispo over a distance of 3.1 miles. The race begins and ends at the Alex Madonna Expo Center in San Luis Obispo, CA; the race starts at 8:30am. You do not have to be a serious runner to participate; we encourage all walkers and runners who are comfortable on trails to come out to celebrate health and fitness while enjoying the healthy lifestyle fostered on the Central Coast.

Stride with the Tide 5K Fun Run, Pismo Beach 7-31-10

Race: starts at 8:30am Rain or Shine. The course is out and back on the sand starting at the Pismo Beach Pier. Walkers are welcome.
Registration: 7:30 am - 8:15 am at the pier on race day. No pre-registration.
Checks: payable to the City of Pismo Beach.
Entry Fee: $15 with shirt, $10 without shirt. T-shirts will be available to the first 100 entrants who request them. Shirt size will be accommodated in order of entry.
